Dubie Leads Pack in Latest Poll of Likely Voters

Jun 24, 2010

Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie beats all five Democratic opponents in the race for Vermont governor, according to a new poll of likely voters conducted by Rasmussen Reports.

“This poll is proof of the growing momentum behind Lt. Gov. Dubie’s candidacy,” campaign manager Corry Bliss said. “It proves his message of growing jobs and cutting taxes is resonating with Vermonters all across the state.”

In head-to-head match-ups, Dubie beats all five Democrats, crossing the 50% mark in four of them. He earns 55% of the vote in two of the match-ups – against Peter Shumlin, who gets 36% of the vote; and against Susan Bartlett, who gets 29%. Dubie leads Matt Dunne 52% to 32% and beats Doug Racine 51% to 36%. He bests Deb Markowitz 47% to 40%.

Dubie also has the most positive image among the candidates, with 36% of Vermonters polled having a very favorable opinion of him. This is the second poll Rasmussen has conducted on the Vermont gubernatorial race. The first poll was conducted the last week of March, and this latest report shows Dubie’s support has only grown in the last three months.

“While this poll is encouraging, we take nothing for granted,” Bliss said. “We will continue to work hard to earn the support of Vermonters. To date, we have knocked on 22,000 doors and attracted 7,500 supporters on Facebook, and this is only the beginning.” The telephone survey of 500 likely voters in Vermont was conducted on June 17, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

The entire poll is available online at http://www.rasmussenreports.com.

Dubie Campaign Celebrates 7,500 Fans on Facebook

Jun 22, 2010

Brian Dubie hit a milestone Tuesday with his 7,500th fan on Facebook.

“I’m so proud to have such a public show of support for my campaign for governor,” Dubie said. “It’s a sure sign of momentum – and it’s only getting stronger.” Dubie said voters have always learned about candidates by talking politics with their friends, but that has exploded through social media like Facebook.

“Facebook is like a daily town meeting,” Dubie said. “I check it every day, and I see real dialogue about the issues our state is facing – the economy, jobs, taxes – real people talking about real concerns. It’s a phenomenal way to engage the voters about what matters to them. I can see their faces and talk to them directly about how my pro-jobs policies will help them and help get Vermont’s economy moving again.”

Social media is just one avenue of voter outreach. The campaign has also knocked on more than 21,000 doors, putting it on track to surpass its goal of 40,000 doors by Labor Day (www.40KbyLaborDay.com).
