Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie presented his vision for job growth Monday, detailing his 10-point plan to an audience of more than 100 Vermont workers and job creators, including company executives and small business owners.
“We need to work together to grow jobs in Vermont,” Dubie said. “We need to rise above politics and partisanship. We need to unify behind an ideal of growth and optimism based on what’s ahead, not what’s behind.”
Dubie unveiled his plan at Northern Power Systems, a wind turbine manufacturer in Barre. The company employs more than 100 people and designs, sells and installs solutions for clean, renewable energy.
The plan, entitled “Pure Vermont: Blueprint for Job Growth and Economic Expansion,” is described in a 26-page document that is available at www.briandubie.com/jobsplan. It details Dubie’s plan to make existing jobs more secure and attract new jobs to Vermont:
1. Hold spending to affordable levels
2. Provide tax relief for families and employers
3. Laser focus on job creation
4. Market Vermont's strengths
5. Streamline permitting and regulation
6. Lower health care costs
7. Steady leadership for long-term challenges
8. Build next-generation business infrastructure
9. Strengthen education and training
10. Power up our energy future
“My friend George Chandler, the founder of Hubbardton Forge, told me a long time ago that you can’t be pro-employee if you’re anti-employer. It just doesn’t work,” Dubie said. “And he’s right. As Governor, I will be committed to working together with employers and employees; developers and environmentalists; and people of a diversity of experiences to make sure my blueprint builds a strong future for all Vermonters.”

Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie welcomed the support Wednesday of unionized electricians and telecommunications workers, two local branches of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers that endorsed his campaign for Governor of Vermont.
“I have tremendous respect for the important and difficult work these dedicated professionals do,” Dubie said. “Vermonters depend on them in so many ways, from keeping the lights on to keeping us connected. As a fellow union member, I am excited to have their support. They work hard for a living and deserve a Governor who will look after their interests. As Governor, I will work to make sure they keep more of the money they earn. Like all Vermonters, they are overtaxed. I am running for governor to cut taxes and grow jobs.”
The IBEW Local 300 represents 1,200 electrical workers, including those who serve utilities such as Central Vermont Public Service and Green Mountain Power and municipalities such as Barton, Ludlow, Morrisville and Stowe.
“Why are we supporting Brian Dubie? One word – integrity,” business manager Jeffrey Wimette said. “If you are someone who gets up every day and goes to work, who puts in an honest day’s labor in return for a fair paycheck, Brian Dubie is the only candidate in this race who understands your concerns. As an active union member himself, Dubie understands the structure and benefits of organized labor. He has shown loyalty, respect, honor and selfless service, and he radiates genuine concern for the issues important to Vermont’s labor force.”
The IBEW Local 2326 represents 600 telecommunications workers from 144 communities around the state. They include people who install telephone and internet service, as well as support workers like auto mechanics and building trades people.
“From our first contact a few years ago, I saw in Brian Dubie many traits that are important to me,” business manager Mike Spillane said. “He has deep respect for people and their concerns and he places family and service to our country and state at the highest of priorities. Over the last few years we have faced many issues in Vermont, such as the Verizon sale and transition to FairPoint, and Brian Dubie has been right there with us, offering us his assistance all along.”
Lt. Gov. Dubie has also been endorsed by the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont.

Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie will be campaigning in six communities in Caledonia, Lamoille, Washington and Chittenden counties Tuesday as voters head to the polls in Vermont’s primary election. He will be meeting with supporters and small business owners at each stop.
“Voters have an important choice to make this year,” Dubie said. “They see a clear difference between me and my opponents. My opponents want to raise taxes, and I want to cut taxes and build the economy through job growth. As I travel the state, I am so encouraged by the outpouring of support.”

Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie said Monday he was thrilled to announce his campaign has surpassed an ambitious grassroots goal – knocking on 40,000 Vermonters’ doors by Labor Day – a full month ahead of schedule.
“I’m so encouraged by the tremendous enthusiasm surrounding this campaign,” Dubie said. “It’s not only from the hardworking volunteers and staff walking door-to-door, but also from supporters who are excited to talk about their hopes for Vermont’s future on their doorsteps, driveways and porches.”
Early this summer, Dubie’s campaign set a goal of knocking on 40,000 doors by Labor Day (
www.40kByLaborDay.com). Supporters hit that mark on Thursday, August 5, at a home in Milton (see photo). It has now set a new goal of 50,000 doors by Labor Day and 60,000 doors by Election Day on November 2.
Matt Zahn knocked on door #40,000 in Milton on Thursday
“This is just one sign of the momentum behind my campaign for governor,” said Dubie, who has knocked on more than 2,000 doors himself, including in neighborhoods in Hardwick, Swanton, Essex, Rutland, Bennington, Brattleboro and Barre. “In every neighborhood, I hear the same thing – we need to grow the economy and create jobs. My message of cutting taxes and making Vermont more affordable is clearly resonating across the state.”
More than 7,500 Vermonters have asked for “Brian Dubie for Governor” yard signs during door knocking and online outreach. They will be delivered this month.

Brian Dubie is excited to welcome the support of the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont, which today announced it has unanimously endorsed Dubie's campaign for governor.
“I have tremendous respect for the work these brave men and women do,” Dubie said. “Their commitment to serving their communities is an inspiration, and I am honored to have their support in my campaign for governor of Vermont.”
The union represents fire fighters, EMTs and paramedics from 12 municipal departments across Vermont – Barre City, Barre Town EMTs, Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Burlington, Hartford, Montpelier, Rutland City, St. Johnsbury, South Burlington, Springfield and Williston. They respond to 45,000 emergency calls a year and cover an estimated 40 percent of the state’s population.
“Brian cares about Vermont communities, and that’s important to us,” said Matt Vinci, a captain with the South Burlington Fire Dept. and president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Vermont. “The ability to deliver effective and efficient emergency services across Vermont is critical. We have worked through several issues with Brian as chair of the Governor’s Homeland Security Advisory Council to be able to ensure Vermont is a safe place to live, work and raise a family.”
Vinci noted the union considered all candidates, but said Brian Dubie has relationships and lines of communications that have been established with the union’s members over many years.
“This is not about party affiliation,” Vinci said, noting the union had also endorsed Democrats Steve Howard for Lt. Governor and Jim Condos for Secretary of State. “That points to the credibility of our process. It’s about who has been there for us and for the issues important to our members being able to deliver vital services to Vermonters.”
Vinci said the union’s members will be working hard until November campaigning for Brian Dubie. “Our members are very engaged in the political process,” he said. “We’re a small organization but have an immense amount of resources. We are excited about working from all corners of the state to ensure Brian is our next governor.”
Fire fighters will be knocking on doors, waving signs, and working on Dubie’s behalf to get voters to the polls. Every candidate the union has endorsed in a statewide race has gone on to victory on Election Day.
“Brian connects very well with my members,” Vinci said. “His time serving our country, his affiliation with a union as a captain with American Airlines, his values for the issues important to working Vermonters – all of it came together for our unanimous endorsement.”

Essex Junction, VT - Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie reported Wednesday that he has raised $943,960 from 4,095 individual donors in his campaign for governor of Vermont.
“The fact that more than 4,000 people care enough about this campaign to write a check is truly encouraging,” Dubie said. “People are responding to my positive, pro-jobs message. There is a clear difference between my opponents and myself. They want to increase government spending and raise taxes. I want to control spending and cut taxes. People are seeing this contrast and supporting my campaign. ”
More than 91% of the campaign donors are from Vermont. Contributions have come from 3,728 Vermonters in cities and towns throughout the state.
“I am deeply humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support,” Dubie said. “It’s not just about how many people have donated to my campaign, it’s about how many people have volunteered to march in parades, make phone calls, and put yard signs on their front lawns or bumper stickers on their cars. The grassroots momentum our campaign is building has never been seen in Vermont. We have already knocked on 30,000 doors and attracted 8,200 fans on Facebook. Thanks to these generous supporters, we’ll be able to reach out to Vermonters in every corner of the state.”
